How to Take Care of Your Cast Iron Pan. A cast iron pot or pan is a keepsake and cooks best friend in the kitchen. Taking care of it is essential, but easy to do once you know how.

    Method

    1. 1

If the pan is new or has rust, wash it with mild dish soap and a sponge.

    2. 2

Dry immediately with a cloth or paper towel to remove excess moisture.

    3. 3

Apply a thin layer of high smoke point oil using a paper towel, then wipe off excess oil to leave a very thin coating

    4. 4

Place on the cooktop and gently heat through for 5 minutes to seal.

    5. 5

Allow it to cool, before handling.

    ...And that's it, enjoy!
